Saturday, 6 November:

David and Sandra Brown Carr present the first of two special programmes to mark the centenary of the passing of ‘Abdu’l-Baha (the son of Baha’u’llah, the founder of the Baha’i Faith) in the Holy Land in late November 1921. They will explain why His life and legacy as an advocate of racial and religious harmony are commemorated 100 years later by members of the Baha’i Faith and their friends worldwide.

The first show features an interview by actor Rainn Wilson with English Baha’i Rob Weinberg, who has compiled a selection of testimonials and tributes to ‘Abdu’l-Baha in his book “Ambassador to Humanity”. You can also hear Professor E G Browne of Cambridge University’s description of his meeting with ‘Abdu’l-Baha in the Holy Land in 1890, as well as two prayers by ‘Abdu’l-Baha for the education of tamariki which have been translated into Maori and set to music.

Many commemorations to mark this Centenary will be held worldwide during November, including here in Hawke’s Bay.  In Hastings, events will be held at Te Aranga Marae, 18 Boston Crescent, Flaxmere, over the weekend of 27-28 November.  For more details, please text 021 232 0665 or 021 023 52655 or email  More news can also be found at
